I don't know if the PS3 Guitar Hero controller works with the PS2 games, I don't believe it does. The 20 and the 60 which both had BC were long since discontinued.

If you're going to buy a PS3 now, that's the one to go with. The 40 Gig that doesn't have backwards compatibility, and the 80 Gig that does have backwards compatibility and is currently bundled with MGS4.

It's a lot of money and I'm having trouble committing with so much awesome stuff on the horizon.Īs far as the PS3 SKU scenario goes, there are only two current SKUs. I was really sure I was going to go with option 1, but I've started to waver. I'd appreciate any advice or additional options. If you answer a question, be sure to trim the quote down, since this is a moderately long post. Again, I own the console, so it's easy on the budget.Ĭons: Possibly of questionable quality. Pros: ALLEGEDLY not crippled (I'll believe it when I see it, but it was mostly true for GH3, minus the DLC) Music maker, all the cool new features. Questions: Since it comes out in October and info is scarce, does anyone have any reliable sources about instrument compatibility, etc? Supposedly good, weekly DLC.Ĭons: Probably more expensive than Rock Band. Questions: I'm sure no one knows yet, but how does the track pack work? I swap discs after loading? I have to load the track pack from the start? WTF! (No fancy new toy to play with, because who am I kidding, if I got a 360 or PS3, it's not JUST for Rock Band.) My Wii Les Paul STILL sits and gathers dust. I don't care whose fault it is, it pisses me off. Questions: Do the PS2 versions of Guitar Hero work with backward compatibility? If so, what guitar can you use with them? Why the hell are there so many different SKUs for the PS3?!Ĭons: The stripped features and lack of DLC (it could go on an SD card, folks) is a goddamn insult. Rock Band 2?Ĭons: Expensive and confusing. PS3 has a decent library with titles some titles relevant to my interests. Questions: I know the GH3 Les Paul works with Rock Band, but does it also work with GH2 for 360? I've got the Goozex points, if I buy GH3 for 360 mostly for the extra guitar, I can pick up GH2 off Goozex and play it for the first time? $500 in all for a non-arcade 360 and Rock Band. Harmonix seems to get lavish praise while Activision gets shat on. Large 360 library with titles very relevant to my interests. Pros: There is a great Live community here. This summer/fall, I'm going to be making a large video game purchase involving some sort of awesome rhythm game and possibly a console. My only console is a Wii (I don't even own a PS2) and I love rhythm games, especially Guitar Hero, of which I only own the third installment.
